During the summer, Miguel Ángel Gil Marín, CEO of Atlético, thinks that Antoine Griezmann is going to join Barcelona–and has insisted that he has been informed of the move since March.

On Wednesday, Real announced Mendy's six-year contract with Lyon saying it was worth € 48 million (£ 42.7 million).

The 24-year-old signing comes one week after Real has also purchased Chelsea's Eden Hazard for £ 88.5 m, while Eintracht's forward Luka Jovic for GBP 65 m.

Mendy joined Lyon in 2017 at Le Harve and scored three objectives last season in 44 appearances. In a friendly game against Uruguay in November, he made his debut for France.

After spending five seasons in the Spanish capitol, Griezmann announced last month that he was going to leave Atlético. Barcelona has been connected for long to a step forward for France, and in the agreement of the 28-year-old, a release clause states that the champions of the League are likely to activate.

Gil Marín said  he knew of Griezmann's next location for the last three months, although there was no formal offer. "I've known it since March, it's crystal clear where he're going to play. He informed Movistar Toros on Wednesday, the Spanish television station.

In 2014, Griezmann moved from Real Sociedad to Atlético to help the club win Europa League in 2018, scoring Marseille twice in the final.
